Summary

The Anachronism card game is a card game published by TriKing Games, in conjunction with The History Channel. In the game, you play as a famous figure in history (such as Spartacus, Leonidas, King Arthur, Genghis Kahn, and many more) and engage in combat with an opposing famous figure.

The game was available in two-player starter decks and one-player warrior packs. There were also promo cards.

Card Types

• Warrior - Cards representing famous people. Each has HP, speed, experience, damage, an attack grid, an element, traits, and an ability.
• Inspiration - Cards representing the driving force for a warrior. Each has initiative, an element, traits, and an ability.
• Weapon - Cards representing items warriors use to hurt their foes. Each has initiative, an attack grid, an element, damage, traits, and an ability.
• Armor - Cards representing items warriors use for defense. Each has initiative, traits, and an ability.
• Special - Cards representing other things the warrior takes advantage of in combat. Each has initiative, traits, and an ability.

Sets and Decks

The game had 7 official sets, named Set 1 through Set 7. Sets 8 and 9 were released in a virtual text-only format. Each set includes between 100 and 110 cards.

Each set had a 2-player starter deck. Separate warrior packs were available for each remaining warrior in the set. This game doesn't have "booster packs" in the traditional sense; rather, warrior packs and starter decks were clearly marked with which warrior(s) they contained, and buying the starter deck and all packs would collect the entire set. This makes the game more like an eXtensible Card Game (XCG; or LGC, Living Card Game) than a traditional collectible card game.

Worth noting: All cards seem to be foil, and they're all extremely thick as well. This makes sense for a game where you don't ever have a "hand" of cards, but it also makes the game feel really premium.

Deck Composition and Contents

Starter Decks

Each set had one two-player starter deck. Each box included two decks of 5 cards each for two warriors (10 cards total). (A legal deck is a warrior and 4 other cards.) For the 7 sets: Achilles vs Spartacus, Ramses II vs Genghis Kahn, Jeanne d'Arc vs William Wallace, Brian Boru vs Peter I The Great, Hernan Cortes vs Moctezuma II, Beyazid I vs Vlad Tepes, and Theseus vs Priam.

Starter deck contents were fixed, and the boxes indicated which deck you would get.

Warrior Pack

Each set had warrior packs for all cards not in the set's starter deck. Each pack came with 5 cards: a warrior and 4 other cards for that warrior.
